Aaron Hall is a PhD candidate in the UC Berkeley Department of History. A graduate of Amherst College and Harvard Law School, he works on themes of southern statecraft, slavery and popular constitutionalism. Aaron is currently writing a dissertation titled A Constitutional Sublime: Claiming the Founding in Antebellum America, which explores the development of constitutional consciousness during the early republic.
