Manuel A. Bautista González (Mexico City, 1984) is a doctoral candidate in United States History at Columbia University in the City of New York, funded by CONACYT's International Postgraduate Studies Fellowship, and Columbia's Richard Hofstadter Fellowship. Manuel specializes in American economic, business, entrepreneurial, financial, banking and monetary history. For his graduate work at Columbia, Manuel studies the concurrent use of domestic and foreign currencies as means of payment and their relationship with interregional and external trade circuits and financial markets in antebellum New Orleans.
