Kendra Boyd is a doctoral candidate in African-American and United States history at Rutgers University. She received a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Wayne State University and is currently writing her dissertation entitled, “Freedom Enterprise: The Great Migration and Black Entrepreneurship in Detroit.” Her research has been supported by the Mellon Foundation as well as a 2015 Albert J. Beveridge Grant from the American Historical Association.
